This is where I write reviews for the books I read and enjoy.
I love reading fantasy/sci-fi as well as the occasional romance, so don't be surprised to find those here. Reading is a very comfortable and enjoyable part of my everyday life and these are some of the best highlights.
Explore my neat little library and feel free to be inspired by any of these entries to read the book yourself.
Mythos is a fun and engaging retelling of Greek Mythology suitable for nerds of all levels. It's main message is to spread the fascinating tales of ancient Greece in interesting and comedic ways and it accomplishes this to perfection. The book doesn't dive much into the societal implications of the myths or the deeper meanings behind the god's actions, it simply tells these tales in a compelling way and leaves the rest to the reader's interpretation.
I had accumulated some curiosity around the world of ancient Greece for quite some time and this was my first ever deep dive into it. And I absolutely loved it. Stephen Fry's style and humour really complement the fun stories the book is trying to tell, the stories themselves are easy to understand and follow, and I found myself eager to read just one more after every story I finished. By the end of the book I had a mountain of thrilling stories to look back on and even retell to friends and family.
Mythos shouldn't be mistaken as a history book, at it's core it is a thrilling fantasy book with (optional) deep thought-provoking implications. I can say now that I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone even remotely interested in Greek mythology, it was a joy to read through and I look forward to reading more of Stephen Fry's Greek mythology saga.
